Digital inclusion of youth

Digi Africa Campaign, particularly for young people, is a key component across the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.  Digi Africa Campaign for Youth is uniquely positioned to assist Africa countries in delivering on these goals.

There will be tens of millions of jobs for people with advanced digital skills in the coming years, with some economies predicting a talent gap for workers with advanced digital skills, and others ranking ICT specialists among their fastest-growing roles. While young people are often considered “digital natives", the majority of them do not actually possess sufficient job-relevant digital skills to fill vacancies.

Equipping young people with digital skills, in particular advanced digital skills, and providing them with entrepreneurship opportunities, will contribute to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8: achieving decent work for all and inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Digital Skills Growth Areas

Digital skills are key to sustainable growth in today’s economy. They lead to more jobs and higher pay. And yet the rapid pace of technological change is leaving massive skills gaps in its wake.

Globally, some 10 million jobs requiring advanced digital skills, such as data science, coding, cybersecurity, Internet of Things and mobile app development, are going unfilled because employers cannot find staff with the requisite skills.
